xilddx
Interesting thanks. I really dislike the bass tone in the first two vids, but the Howard Roberts on is nice. I like the music and the bass playing in the second vid, really good stuff that! It's just the horrible bass tone from that B15 I can't handle

lojo
Love the fact he plays round wounds and gets a tone like flats Been gigging a few of his lines, real fun to play.
miles'tone
Brilliant! Thanks for posting that. I love his basswork on the Doors L.A. Woman album. He must've reverted to his 'shotgun' approach for the title track though, can't see anyone pumping that for six minutes on just the one finger! Interesting he used rounds too. I always did wonder. Silvia Bluejay
Thanks for this, Dave. I hadn't seen it shared among my FB friends yet, so I've posted the link on to Jerry's FB page.
Silvia Bluejay
Forgot to add, Jerry will be playing live with Jenson Bloomer and Mondo Carne again at Stourbridge on 15th March 2014. Aw, go on, allow me to post that photo from his gig of 5th January 2013 once again
wombatboter
I love his different tones.. even the distorted ones. It all just radiates energy and that's what touching. Met him once and we shared a quick lunch together in France. Lozz196
Great player and great tone - getting that from rounds I reckon he must let them get a little mature, shall we say, it`s what I do to get similar.
wateroftyne
Thread from the dead... I'm about halfway through Jerry's book, and I really like it. TBH, if you're expecting loads of stuff about basses, go and buy a book about basses. But if you're interested in reading about one guy's journey through music, and how exciting it must have been to be a musician in 50s and 60s America, it's well worth a read.
