geoffbassist
I have to add in Larry's video! It's too good to leave out. Larry Grenadier with the Brad Mehldau Trio. The tune is really beautiful and Larry has the first solo. For me it's perfection. http://youtu.be/p6nBm8NNdm8
oggiesnr
Rinat Ibragimov. He was one of my DB tutor's tutors and I just think he's stunning. I've posted his Bottesini elsewhere so here's some Bach. TheRev
Danny Thompson - obviously (I'll resist the tempation to post the video of the spine tingling version of Solid Air from the Transatlantic Sessions as it'll be the umpteenth time I've put it up...) Also Dan Berglund - I've only recently discovered EST and I'm really enjoying their music and Dans playing style. No-one has (ever) mentioned Ali Friend, who alongside Mr Thompson, was the inspiration for my picking up the big bass. His credits include Beth Orton, Clayhill and the groundbreaking Red Snapper. stingrayPete1977
Dan Berglund - for making the complex appear simple...immaculate timing, versatility, and just the vibe he brings to the music ! Not found a single defining clip but love his work with EST
The pizz tone on this to me is the holy grail that electric bass players want but will never get, I dare say getting it on DB is probably a lot harder than he is making it look! timbass
That great Jimmy Garrison video made me think of this short video interview with the late Art Davis who played along side Jimmy Garrison on John Coltrane's album Ascension. Your Arvell Shaw video is AWESOME Tim. I can't believe how far he takes it. Not many bassists abandon the form and just go off on one, but that is incredible the way he does. It just keeps building, incredible. Edited November 21, 2013 by geoffbassist

BetaFunk
Chuck Isreals. Not an easy task taking over from the late Scott LaFaro in the Bill Evans Trio but what a great job he made of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67WyBSZ_3d4
