yorks5stringer Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Sorry to start a new thread but I guess my question in the Bassbash thread may have got overlooked... Does anyone know of any Music-related Charities? We hope to raise a decent sum of £ at the Yorkshire Bassbash Auction and Raffle (Sunday June 29th!) and it would be nice to give it to a Charity in the the musical field. Any ideas please? Quote
Stu-khag Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 only one I know is this:- http://www.nordoff-robbins.org.uk Quote
jakenewmanbass Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 There is a musicians benevolent fund which gives money to musicians who can no longer work or fall on hard times, they only give to people who have made a living from music, so very worthy in my opinion. You can donate through the Musicians Union and I can find your local contact for you if you wish, just PM me if you need to. Whenever the union has resolved payment issues or cancellation fee issues for me I a have donated £50 to the benevolent fund from whatever they recover for me. Jake Quote
Kiwi Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Basschat is a charity, albeit an unregistered one because it doesn't meet the income threshold for registration. Quote

yorks5stringer Posted June 25, 2008 Author Posted June 25, 2008 Thanks to all for your helpful contributions, looks like there could be a 4 way split? Quote
jakenewmanbass Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Also just to add, it's good thinking to go small charity wise, the big ones seem to attract so much attention I think the little ones get left behind a bit. Quote
s_u_y_* Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Also, there's "Help s_u_y_* buy a Warwick Streamer Stage I bass guitar". Give a man a guitar, he'll make music during solo sections. Give a man a bass, he'll make music for life. Quote
