bridge
Good morning folks, Right, just to start, I will say that i have recently purchased a BF compact, and a Streamliner 900, so my budget is now zero.! Also, I know the general concensus is, if you want an extra 12" cab to go with a compact, then go for a midget or another compact. That said, I just want to ask, has anyone had the experience of using something different with a compact, such as the Shroeder 12L, for sale on here? does it mix ok? cheers Ray
xgsjx
Only you can decide that, so it's a case of "suck it & see", I'm afraid. It's like having 1/2 a cup of your fave coffee & wanting more, but have your fave tea available.

That should mix ok... As xgsxj said - only you can judge if a certain mixture of cabs works for you. Doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks!
The two together will probably sound better than either alone, that's usually the case. However, the BF uses a long excursion driver, the Schro does not, so the Schro would be a weak link. JTUK
You'd have to hear it to decide if it is to your liking. The strange thing to me is why you would want to.... You have a light cab ( easy carry ) which can put out bass so it is not bass light. The number of times you hear people wanting to run another cab...?? not really the single cab solution you'd think..??

Guest bassman7755
I have not gigged my rig yet,
I seriously suggest you gig it first, Id be very surprised if you come away thinking "It didnt have enough umf so I need another cab". In all fairness I use 2 Compacts stacked, but thats down purely to vanity
chris_b
I'm assuming this is a gen3 Compact? I ran a Bergantino AE210 with a gen1 Compact at front room volumes and the two sounded very good together, but you're asking about buying the schroeder. I'd say don't. Sorry, but save up for another Compact! My 2p.
Lozz196
I love both brands but they each have a fair different sound. The Compact I would put at being flat, no real peaks or troughs in its eq, whereas Schros have an upper mid-bias that really cuts in the mix. If it were me I`d put up a wanted ad for either another Compact or a Midget - bear on mind now the 3rd Gen BFs are out, many are selling their 2nd Gens to fund them, so there are more being sold than usual. But as a few have said, gig it first and then make up your mind. I added a Midget to my Compact to give the set-up more "bite" and it certainly did just that, but the Compact on it`s own was plenty loud/full enough. bridge
Thanks for the input Guys, as I said, I am not looking to buy at present, just curious. If, once I have gigged this rig, I decide I want 'something extra' then maybe I will look again, but was just asking, to maybe have the info to hand so to speak. Wait till you have gigged your set-up. Unless you are playing massive gigs with no PA support I would be surprised if you find the Compact wanting... Even though they are not tall cabinets, they seem to have a very good dispersion - so you can hear yourself very well even when standing right next to the cab. I'd love two Compacts - but that's just coz I'm greedy! Edited November 20, 2013 by Conan
