Greggo
Wedgie rubber picks are great, really comfortable and give a good halfway house tone between fingers and plectrum (more attack than fingers but with a nice round tone). Unfortunately even in light playing they degrade like anything on roundwounds strings. Does anyone know if flatwound strings would be kinder these type of plectrums? samuelcroberts
I think that generally, flatwound strings cause less degradation with regards to friction compared to roundwounds. This is certainly true when comparing round/flatwound wear on frets and fingerboards at least. Flats are slicker and smoother, so they probably would be kinder overall to the rubber plecs! jmchich
Some of the pick wear would be due to horizontal movement rubbing the pick on the ribs of the roundwound string, but I imagine a fair part is due to using a soft object on a (fairly solid) metal object. If I had any rubber picks I would compare and contrast for you, but anyway, that's my 2p...
