SteveK
Just had this brought to my attention. Now, I usually look for the good in all music, always trying to be positive, but this just has me scratching my head. I know very little of Kanye West...! Is he considered 'up there' in his genre? KevB
Afraid I couldn't be arsed to listen but I played it through without sound. The video looked like it cost about a tenner to make, a few props and about three or four runs through in front of blue screen, then they paste in the backdrops later. Job done. CamdenRob
wow turns out kanye west's new tune is sh*t... who'd have thought it after all those classics earlier on in his career...
Pinball
I watched this earlier, It was the first link that came up on Yahoo. Why I thought? A total no event. If you haven't seen the vid don't bother honestly. The term overhyped rubbish springs to mind.

chris_b
Is this as bad...etc? Yes it is. It's a shame that music is so polarised in the US these days. KW is a mega star in Hip Hop and his intended audience is Black America, so it's no surprise that we wouldn't like it.
You're basically saying that we're just not getting it. You're probably right! However, I find merit in, do get, and in many cases like, a lot of music that wasn't intended for a white, English, heterosexual, male. Maybe music in the US is polarised, I don't know, I haven't given it much thought... or, just maybe this track falls neatly into that hugely popular genre of Country RAP... or, as I affectionately call it... C-RAP! Edited November 20, 2013 by SteveK

jonsmith
Yes, it really is that bad! I don't really get the concept that I won't enjoy a type of music based on skin colour. That may be how music is marketed in certain 'territories', but it has no influence on what music I enjoy. Having said that I must admit that apart from the very odd exception I have no love for this particular genre. Still, this struck me as a particularly poor attempt. Even so, there is worse out there: Enjoy. EDIT: stay with it till the chorus, or you'll miss the best bits. Myke
Does he honestly like that song..? I quite enjoy rap and hip hop and stuff but that was just like songs mashed together with terrible rapping over the top.. and what was with him riding that motorbike, seriously.. He needs to listen and watch this stuff before he puts it out. This was a fail.
Marc S
Yes, it is as bad as you think It's nothing to do with genres or whether we "get" it For a supposed mega-star, this is a lame effort Looks like he couldn't be bothered to leave his house to make the vid
RhysP
I know very little of Kanye West...! Is he considered 'up there' in his genre?
He considers himself to be "A genius" apparently. I don't get it at all but I don't get lots of stuff from many different musical genres that people think is great so I'm not the best person to comment. ratman
The Kanye track - if some newcomer released that you'd say it's pretty bad. But for someone of his 'standing' (loosely used term), its p*ss poor. Xmas number 1 maybe? Lol. And Pale Tone - good god. There's 4 minutes of my life wasted. Made me laugh though, and even Kanye didn't do that.
