[sup]Hey guys, wondering if you could settle my mind today[/sup]
[sup]A piece of music came on the radio today, and the bass line sounded really similar to the intro/verse line in 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' but can't think for the life of me what it is. [/sup]

[sup]Any ideas anyone?[/sup]

It amazes me that a whole new generation are hearing songs from my youth without even knowing it and thinking it's something new. It really is a strange old world.

Some people will hear Ain't no mountain and wonder why they stole Amy's bassline. Sad times.

That didn't even occur to me but yes you've got a very good point there. :(

I think there was a thread on here recently about these two songs. I do believe the writers of 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' got a credit on Amy's album. [url="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tears_Dry_on_Their_Own"]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tears_Dry_on_Their_Own[/url]

Should think so too - it's not just the bass line it's the brass as well!

I'm a massive fan of the original tune but love Amy's version of it. You can look on it as a blatant robbery or you can look at it as her ode to a classic era of 20th century music, I think for her it was definitely about the latter.

It's definitely a 'homage'. And her lyrics are very poignant. Her death was very sad. Such a huge talent.

Exactly. Colin Blunstone, touring with Rod Argent, is always asked why the Hull they do this Santana track ...
Happily he laughs when telling the story.
