thebassist
Anybody tried tonygreybassacademy.com, labasslix.com or any other online bass tuition courses?
sarah thomas
I'm following the John Pattitucci online jazz bass course at artistworks.com Nathan West does the electric bass course. There are loads of prerecorded lessons to follow, You send in a video of yourself playing and get a video response from your tutor. It costs about £60 for 3 months. There are sample lessons you can look at first to help you make up your mind. I find it really helpful as a beginner on the upright and other people have commented on how much better I'm getting since I started these lessons. thebassist
I checked out a taster lesson there and wasn't really enamoured by Nathan East's overly genteel (in my opinion) approach. Now if John Patitucci had done the electric bass version too I'd have gone for it.

I've seen a few instructional videos by Nathan East and although he's a good bassist, I don't think that necessarily transfers to being a good teacher! Thanks in advance
You go online for as long as you like. I find the music theory lessons helpful too and they're thrown in as a bonus. But bearing other people's experiences in mind, it's probably worth checking out some sample lessons to see if you get on with Nathan East's approach: http://play.artistworks.com/free-bass-lessons-nathan-east?&__hssc=9434218.1.1385656126545&__hstc=9434218.cf7b24af45c056ad0138e1a4fa938230.1377790961244.1385576983274.1385656126545.43&hsCtaTracking=33bd3303-4cdd-409d-95a8-93c07fdc2ae5%7Cd4f1eae2-d4be-4bb4-8771-f18a25de50f3
