Dapper Bandit
I've been doing a lot of research and buying in the world of EF's over the last couple of years, only ever really managing to get sickly quacks or ear piercing screeches out of them. I bought the Source Audio BEF Pro and this seems to be doing the job for me BUT the one sound I really want is the Bill Laswell deep dub sound. Can someone wise to these pedals possibly share a setting or hint to get this tone on this pedal, if it is indeed possible? Thanks in advance! Grangur
This might help. Roland Rock
The Bill Laswell stuff that I know doesn't have the filter sweep that an envelope filter provides. I'd say it's more of a static low pass filter, with the cutoff frequency pretty low. The Moogerfooger MF101 of Iron Ether Xerograph might be worth a look. Or maybe you're referring to Bill Laswell stuff that I'm not familiar with - a link would help Edited November 28, 2013 by Roland Rock

I think we need more clarification :-)

phil.i.stein
the very, very, deepest Bill Laswell dub that i know of lies herein, and it sounds to me like a mix of octave down and an LPF (like the IE Xerograph or Moog LPF) the octaver sounds like it's glitching, but still, frickin' awesome. It's that "DOD FX25 with every knob turned counter clockwise" sound that I'm seeking. is this possible with the Source Audio? Hearing that track takes me back to being a 17 year old Death Metallist getting his mind BLOWN.

[/quote] i've got the source audio b.e.f., and while it it is a great pedal, i've never managed to get those deep subs from it. the Iron Ether Xerograph, on the other hand, will get sub-sonic ! maybe the Xerograph Deluxe (envelope filter version) would suit you better ? add an expression pedal and it'll kill it. Dapper Bandit
Curses, thought that was the case whilst I was tinkering. Looks like another investment is required! Cheers for your help Phil although by help I mean giving me another unnecessary purchase to explain to the Mrs...
