TorturedSaints
Hi all, if you would like to hear my band's first EP, recorded, mixed etc by me, then here's the link: http://www.nimbitmusic.com/darksky Difficult to categorise for us - others have suggested we are 'alternative', compared us to The Cranberries, (not that I've ever heard them before), so I don't know where that puts us on the rock spectrum! It's all original music, anyway. I would call it rock though. The Nimbit site is currently set up as to offer free downloads, with donations welcome. You can always download it for free and donate later if you've enjoyed it. Feel free to comment here, We will be looking to get some gigs early in the New Year using this demo as a 'door-opener'. or 'like' us at http://www.facebook.com/darkskyband or on twitter.[twitter]darkskyband[/twitter] Enjoy cheers Ralph Bass gear used on recording: Fender Jazz MIJ 'Geddy Lee' Sig. xilddx
This kinda music isn't really my bag, but it's pretty good. The songs are decent, although I think I'd want a bit more catchy chorus as it's blatantly commercial and I think you could make more of that. Not keen on the mix, it needs better balance and some polish. The drums seem too loud, and the vocals need sparkle. The performances are ok but it's lacking tightness and the grooves feel a bit forced here and there, they lack vibe for me. I've only heard the clips though, not the full songs. Please don't take the above as being too negative, I just think you need to work on it a bit more and get it polished. All the best.
TorturedSaints
Thanks xilldx! Comments appreciated. It's a learning experience for all of us. We are obviously doing something seriously wrong if it's sounding blatantly commercial. Edited December 10, 2013 by RalphDWilson
xilddx
No worries man, cheers. When I say 'blatant' I don't mean 'deliberate'.
