Mike Scott from Adventures of a Waterboy is a good read. He can string a sentence together allright but if you're looking for sex, drugs and groupies this ain't for you. If you are looking for sex drugs and groupies check out either Motley Crüe - The Dirt or Duff McKagan - It's so easy and other lies. Another good read is Inside Out by Nick Mason.

The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx had me wondering how on earth the guy is still alive!

Despite probably living life to the max don't rule out a little bit of exaggeration!

Oh, aye - forgot about that one. A great read.

Chapter & Verse (Genesis) is a good'un, too.

I've often found that the bigger the rock star the duller the story. Eric Clapton's autobiography comes to mind. One of the best ever warts an' all autobiographies is by John Phillips of the Mamas and Papas. Am amazing and sometimes harrowing story that i would expect most on here would pass by but it's one of the best music related books i've ever read, and i've read a lot of them.

Has anyone read the Pretty Things biography "Growing Old Disgracefully"? It was supposed to be updated this year to co-incide with their 50th anniversary gigs, but nothing seems to have materialised. I'm a massive Pretties fan put even second hand the price is a bit steep...

This is a great laugh from Stuart Maconie http://www.amazon.co...er+with+roadies

... and from the collection I had that I've only just donated to a local charity shop, this one by Gary Valentine (ex Blondie) http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-York-Rocker-Generation-1974-1981/dp/1560259442/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1386187952&sr=1-1&keywords=gary+valentine

Deke Leonard of Man is quite the writer if you want sex, drugs and rock'n'roll. Though as his publisher I admit I am biased...

Order through this website before Xmas, quote Basschat and deduct £2 off the price of any of his three titles.

Plug over!

Plus one for Deke Leonard - read it on the beech last summer, great fun...

Bettye LaVette's book is a good read and Guy Pratt's is very funny (you will never look at the Womacks in the same way ever again)!

Guy Pratt, Horace Panter, Mick Karn are well worth a read with your bass head on.
Midge Ure, Julian Cope and boy George (was quite a read) with your general music head on
