risingson
Just bought a new bass but I'd like to ensure the delivery of it privately (i.e. not through the courier) because of it's high value, does anyone have any experience doing this and if so who would be your recommendations? Any help on this would be hugely appreciated! Edited December 3, 2013 by risingson
yorks5stringer
You could pay for a Private Hire vehicle to collect and deliver it...check they are insured enough mind..! You could try negotiate a price? Edited December 2, 2013 by yorks5stringer
molan
you might be better off using a courier that's happy to insure something of higher value - splitting insurance and shipping could be an issue if one company has to claim against the other
Platypus
I have insured an expensive bass to go from UK to Findland using an insurance broker that catered for musical instruments. It was a couple of years back, though will try to find details for you later. Edited December 2, 2013 by Platypus

Is it notably tricky business splitting insurance and courier?

MilkyBarKid
Just had a stagepiano shipped from northern ireland - to mainland uk. DHL fully insured cost about £79 (couldn't lift it alone). Parcelforce have attempted to destroy the last two shipments they've made to me. They've managed to inflict serious damage to a 2x12 marshall combo - snapping the right hand side almost completely though.
