EBS_freak
Am I imagining this or is it the case that there is a active vs passive argument such as the ss vs valve argument? All the "purists" out there will say valve. Similarly I have been reading posts where the opinion is that passive is "purist". For bass, I like SS and active. That makes me the bastard spawn of Satan I presume? Edited June 27, 2008 by EBS_freak
Merton
I like passive and active basses, no preference really. And I like hybrid amps. I am therefore the greyist fence-sitter ever
Dubs
I like my active basses and the sound of my Ampeg valve head…I don’t have a clue what that makes me

bnt
After a few years studying industrial instrumentation (including electronics) I got the message that weak signals need to be buffered as close to the source as possible, if you're going to preserve them. So, when I heard about pickups with buffer circuitry built in to the pickup, that's what I chose to mod my first good bass with. I have no complaints with the EMGs I had put iin in 1991. bass_ferret
I think there are a couple of guys making a lot of noise including one that took the pre-amp off his stingray cos it was too hissy. Millions of Ray's sold but his has a duff pre-amp so they must all be duff.
