bonnp
i am a 40 something geezer living in county durham. i have messed around with guitars for ages but never managed a recognisble riff until the last week when the pennys suddenly dropped. own a ibanez 4s bass which i am practising on every day. ultimately want to be in a band (who struggle to play), influenced by 70s punk, funk, ska...everything pretty much. i want to purchase a musicman stingray which i could not afford a few years ago so hoping the mrs won't mind. hoping to get some advice on learning, currently playing tabs from the jam, stray cats etc.

Horizontalste
Welcome to the boards. Hope you don't mind my tuppence worth regarding the tabs, they're great for getting going quickly but always try and have one song to work out by ear or from chords. You can do both I think but using only tabs held me back for years. It doesn't take long to get used to doing it for yourself if you have some basic knowledge of scales, chords & keys. Hope you get you're Stingray too, they are great basses. Edited December 8, 2013 by Horizontalste
