Please help!

Ok think i found answer to why my bass was buzzing when i touched the strings etc.
The jack only has one wire connected to it, i assume the other wire next to it in the sheath is the earth that needs to be connected to the other side. looks like it was soldered on and came off.
Pic included. Am i right in my thinking?.

Indeed, you are correct.

Yes you need a common ground wire from the centre 'hole' of the jack socket to the pot bodies & the bridge.

Your bass works right now as the electrical screening paint in the cavity is completing the circuit (albeit far less efficiently than a wire wikk do), do, yes, get a proper earthing wire between the circuit and the output jack.
