Conan
General view for me is that they're so cheap and I have so many of them that it's not really much of an issue either way.
Well, maybe I'm just odd in that I don't have any spare KETTLE LEADS, and never have. I've never seen the need to until now... If I bought an amp, having sold or traded my current one (see what I did there?) with it's lead, and my new amp arrived sans cable - I would be in the frustrating position of being unable to even try it out. I take the point that they are cheap, but I would then have to order one and wait for it to arrive... So what I have learned from this thread is to ASK the seller if the amp comes with a cable (whatever its name). If it doesn't, then that gives me a few days to purchase one. And everyone is happy - including the bloody skinflint who thinks it appropriate to sell and amp with no mains connector!!!
Musky
I'm with all those who said they'd expect the lead to be included but not at all bothered if it wasn't. All though there are benefits to not having a lead included. A little while ago a bought a keyboard off Ebay and it arrived with a hole punched through the casing near the output jack, which had clearly happened when the package was dropped on to the enclosed mains lead... So perhaps the sellers are just thinking of the safety of your new purchase?
discreet
Interesting to note that currently 109 members have voted on the crucial issue of power cables yet November's Composition Competition attracted only 26 votes in total. Thhhpp! Thpppp! Thhp! Thp! Having said that, I actually missed the voting deadline (due to life issues) so appreciate the hypocrisy of this post. flyfisher
Why spend £20,000 on a power cable? That would be ridiculous when you can get one of these for less than $7000: http://www.amazon.com/AudioQuest-NRG-WEL-Signature-Series/dp/B0055OM9WS (The reviews are pretty funny as well) Of course, such things are only really worth buying if you're also using £5000 PER METRE speaker cables: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/blogs/2011/02/08/the-most-expensive-cable-in-the-world/

tauzero
I said no because I wouldn't expect someone to put a power lead in. If I'm selling, I include a power lead if I remember to but I regard that as a courtesy rather than an essential part of the transaction. tauzero
Unequivocably, an amp should come with a power cable. How could it be argued otherwise ? The power cable is part of the amp. It's the part that connects it to the mains.
Then it should also come with an instrument cable. The instrument cable is part of the amp. It's the part that connects it to the instrument. Oh, and a speaker lead if it's not a combo. The speaker cable is part of the amp, it's the part that connects it to the speaker.

The only more deluded reviews of cables that I've read have been of HDMI cables (where the reviewers actually believe that a cable carrying a digital signal can affect the analogue interpretation of that signal).
