Beedster Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 (edited) Stonking bass that's leaving the herd ahead of a move back to England and the associated need to free up both money and space. Original listing at http://basschat.co.u..._fromsearch__1. This is an extremely light and extremely resonant instrument that really is not all that far off any of the pre-CBS Precisions I've owned. It now had original Fender ashtrays that add hugely to the vintage vibe. I'll post some pics of these over the weekend. C Edited January 5, 2014 by Beedster
Guest BassKS Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 f*** me!!! Flat wounds? What's the action like? I want it purely.
Beedster Posted December 7, 2013 Author Posted December 7, 2013 TI flats, action about as high as Danni's little sister, lovely player
Thunderbird Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 (edited) I would love this maybe Santa will get it for me lol Edited December 7, 2013 by Thunderbird
Beedster Posted December 13, 2013 Author Posted December 13, 2013 Right, house move agreed today, so this - along with a few other instruments and cabs - will need to go. Serial number indicates it's 1997-2000 CIJ, it has Lindy Fralin PUPs, non-reverse tuners, and what I can only (and honestly) describe as a very sympathetic refin, that is, it looks and feels like a vintage instrument. The neck is absolutely outstanding. I'm happy to say that if you buy this and you're not happy, you get your money back, no quibble, it's that good a bass. I can install a Badass II for an extra £50 C
Beedster Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 I'll be driving down to the southeast (Sussex/Kent) over the Christmas/New Year so would be able - in fact would perhaps prefer - to hand this bass over in person if the buyer happened to live en-route or within a reasonable distance Chris
Daveyboyrooster Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 This was my main gigging bass for 5 years and it's just awesome! If I had the money I would definitely buy it back. BTW unless the tuners have been changed they are original Fender USA ones that came off a 1971 P Bass! Good luck with the sale Chris and if it doesn't sell by the New Year give me a PM.
franzbassist Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Hmm, if my Veillette sells I am on this. What's the weight and balance like Chris?

Thanks for the info, I didn't realise the tuners were vintage, I'll bump the price up by £100 In true Disney animal road movie style, it would of course be nice if you could get it home for Christmas
Hmm, if my Veillette sells I am on this. What's the weight and balance like Chris?
Very light and very good respectively is pretty much all I can say here Gareth. I've promised another BCer that I'll take some further pics tonight, so I'll weigh it at the same time. As I suggested above, I defy anyone to be genuinely disappointed by this bass. Selling this is allowing me to keep my '78 Fretless guilt free (I'm sure you know what I mean), which al things considered, is the best path for me. I appear to fall into that rare category of bass players who, for whatever reason, not only prefer to play fretless but are actually more skilled on fretless than fretted (Jaco was another. This is, trust me, the only thing Jaco and I have in common. Far from suggesting that I'm a genius fretless player, it's in truth indicative of the fact that my fingers seem to find their way around frets with about as much ease as the average England striker find his way around a German defence). My loss = your gain blah blah blah

bassintheface Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Hi mate, you're more Mid than North then!! I've decided to go for a new one now. Thanks anyway. Best.
Well the locals describe it as north and appear very sceptical at the mention of the word 'mid' Glad you're sorted mate (a 100 mile drive up here is not to be taken lightly), all the best for the festive season C
rock steady Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Lovely bass. What width is the neck? 1 5/8" or 1 3/4"?
