There are certain obligatory things.

At least ten minutes of fast and incredibly repetitive slap, preferably with the EQ set to the most irritating settings.

Instrument stands should take the maximum possible floor space.

Headphones and other cissy accoutrements are not allowed.

You should seek out the bass with the most strings on it and play "Mustang Sally" on it.

Actually, I must say that at the Northampton one, the one piece of etiquette I couldn't work out was whether it is or is not acceptable to pick up and play an unattended bass (obviously this doesn't apply to poptart's legions of basses with "Do not touch or you'll have your hands chopped off" on them). I'd have loved a play on a couple of headless 6es but didn't want to start playing on them without their owner's (or owners') permission.

And it's probably a good idea to make an inventory of what you take into the room so you know what you should be taking back out. Avoids forgetting things like stands, leads, or partners.

How about 'Can I use my plectrum on your nice bass please Mr?' And 'Can I leave my belt and bracelet on?'

Of course you can good sire, as long as you don't mind me disemboweling you with my bass stand, ripping off your arm to beat you with the wet end, and loaning you my Ashborg with such ferocity and vigor that you will have to have it surgically removed. :)

'noon All...

Hope to be able to slouch along, finances permitting.

If so I'll be brining a couple of old Arias (maybe the SB-1000F if it's finished), the Ashdown Superfly & my bijou Epifani UL-110 cab.

Pete.

Silverfox - I might be able to make this after all. Got to be at the outlaws in the PM but could do a drive-by in the morning. Not sure what gear I can bring as I'll be en-route to East Anglia but might be able to bring a G&L Tribute if anyone wants to have a go. Maybe my Trace head too?

Cool, would be nice to meet you.

Looking forward to this one, lets hope its not as hot and muggy as it has been today!

Well I will actually have Saturday's back if I've left the band, so I might be able to make it. God knows what I will be bringing. Hopefully a brand new Shuker headless 6! If someone has something particular they'd like me to take let me know. The shame is regardless of what I bring, there are always some instruments that people miss out on because they're left behind...

...noones down for bringing a Genz Benz Shuttle 6 yet so I could bring that with the EBS cab.

Great news Matt! :)

It'd be really good to bring the Tribute if you can because they've generated a bit of interest here in recent months, especially over the USA vs Tribute debate.. WalMan's USA L2500 will be there so a direct comparison of the two would be very interesting!

CK - how come you're leaving your band??

I'm hoping to make it down, Guildford's not too far from me and I ain't gigging that Saturday (for a change!).

If so, I'll bring my GA24 Custom, GBIV and maybe lug my Aguilar DB750 down, in case the venue fancies putting in some new windows!

More laters...

Just to update, I shall be bringing this with me:

I intend to have a few more finished by then so we could hook them all my to my PLX 3002 and see if the various myths about excessive bass have any truth to them... :)
