Kamzter Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Hi guys, I have a Marshall MB Series 15watt amp I use in the bedroom. I've now took ownership of a Behringer BX108 25watt amp. Based on looks I prefer the Marshall but the Behringer boasts more POWER, what would your choice be? Quote
Twigman Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 My choice? The tip with both of them. I'll stick with my GB Shuttle 9.2 900W head and Barefaced S12T 2 x 12" for all situations thanks. Quote
BruceBass3901 Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 (edited)
Based on looks...
An amp isn't just to look nice at the back of the stage... If it sounds great to you and looks the part, brilliant, but unless your band or audience are listening with their eyes, go with what sounds best to you and with your band. And just a heads up, you will likely get a lot of people saying that having 2 single speaker combo amps under 50 Watts is still not going to cut it with a band without some pretty good PA support. Spike Vincent Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 (edited) Frankly, I don't think you'll notice a significant - by which I mean useable - difference between 15w and 25w. Both will be adequate for bedroom use, neither will be any use in a band scenario. I'd prefer the Marshall because it's a Marshall... Edited December 10, 2013 by Spike Vincent Quote
xgsjx Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013
I'd prefer the Marshall because it's a Marshall...
& their bass gear is nearly as good as Behringer! If it's for your bedroom or playing with an acoustic guitarist, then whichever you prefer. If you're gonna play in a band, whichever is the loudest until you can get something that's suitable for in a band. I've gotten away with a 30w combo at a gig a few times, but I'd rather have something designed to play gigs with (which I have). Quote
Kamzter Posted December 10, 2013 Author Posted December 10, 2013 Yes it's a bedroom amp not a jamming amp, my rumble 150 does the jamming bit ;-) Quote
xgsjx Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Then whichever you prefer the sound of. Quote

MoonBassAlpha Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 A friend had one that looks like the Behringer - may have been an earlier model - but it was really very poor, pretty much unfit for purpose imho. Judge for yourself though. Quote
