6stringbassist
This is probably something most people neglect, I know I certainly have. I used to use Musicguard but fell out with them a couple of years ago. Last night I was lying listening to some music, and it occurred to me how much my gear is worth, it get's taken out 3 or 4 times a week, and well it's not insured. Who do you recommend. A quick search found these two http://www.victorcknight.co.uk/ http://www.allianzmusicalinsurance.co.uk/default.asp Both offer really good quotes, but has anyone ever dealt with them, and been unfortunate to make a claim, did you encounter any problems ?. Their quote was good and my one claim (tempts fate) was settled quickly and without quibble. Can't comment on your other choice. john_the_bass
I rang Endsleigh last week who quoted me £125 for 10k cover on a new for old basis.

I basically want to pick someone who's not going to mess about if I have to make a claim, I'm very careful with my gear, but you never know. BassBod
I've used Vic Knight for years - never had to claim, so I can't say I've ever been able to test them - and I hope it stays that way. I've contacted them a few times with questions, and they've always been very easy to deal with. BB

I'm insured through them and I'd be interested to know if they're as good as they appear to be, or whether I need to look elsewhere.

On many home contents policies, musical equipment is not covered if it is being used in a professional capacity (i.e. you are being paid for your performance). If you do, then you're most likely not covered.
