I think there is a DIY circuit (madbean lowrider?) that is a close approximation?

Are you going to use the octave up? If not one of the boss oc2 clones will do the rest - the pearl circuit is virtually identical to the oc2 other than the octave up.

Keep an eye on eBay (set a search that warns you by email) and be ready

I've seen them go for anything from £50 to £100. I bought one a month or two ago and I paid about £80, if I recall correctly. If you can wait, you can get it for less.

They vary in price by loads. I was looking at getting one last year; I decide one wasn't worth £25 and didn't buy, the next one I saw was just shy of £100!

It's a great octaver with IMHO better tracking than the Boss OC2. But don't expect great things from the octave-up or you'll be disapointed. A harmoniser, it ain't.
