redbandit599
Hi all Anyone going to Soni next year? I am, with a couple of mates. Headliners in night order are Prodigy, Maiden, Metallica. Fingers crossed for a strong undercard too! Cheers Jason Edited December 12, 2013 by redbandit599
Dropzone
I will be there. Strong line up but more than a bit predicatable. Great festival and much less walking than download ;-) I remember the mud lake from the last year it ran, what a fun night that was.
dudewheresmybass
Aiming to be. IMO the line up already blows download into a cocked hat Edited December 12, 2013 by dudewheresmybass
DaytonaRik
Could be tempted - not bothered about the Friday but Trujillo and Harris in one weekend - hell yeah!!! G/F's idea of a nightmare though...win/win!!!
redbandit599
Yeah, the line is a bit predictable, but tbh I think they probably need to be sure of good attendance. Especially with it being the 40 year Knebwoth anniversay or whatever and pulling the plug previous years. Tend to agree re Download looking somewhat weak. I enjoyed Download this year though and that was the first time I'd been back to Doni since the Monsters of Rock days. Never seen The Prodigy and have to admit that I'm looking forward to it, think they could be an ideal fun Friday night band to get things warmed up. The Metallica set is supposed to be chosen by the fans, so we should try some cheeky Suicidal Tendencies/Infectious Grooves nominations to let Mr Trujillo really off the hook!! dand666
Should be going. The lineup blows Download out of the water i think. Although, after going to all of the Soni's and the last 10years or so of Download, it's hard not to be bored by the lineup.
Damonjames
Would love to hear a tallica version of violent and funky! Still undecided, would love to go but festivals aren't exactly cheap.... If there were some stadium shows I would defo go see metallica!
Dave_the_bass
Trying to persuade the wife that we need to go! I hope that the sound for Maiden is better than it was at Download this year. As for The Prodigy; There is no better feel good band to headline a massive open air festival. They never fail to have me dancing round the field like a druid on speed! redbandit599
Maiden's sound was poor at Download wasn't it, don't know why though, it had been pretty good for the other bands. Maybe the Spitfire shot the sound engineer? That is indeed a great turn of phrase! Now if someone can make an effects pedal called a 'Druid Accelerator', I'll buy it.... Dropzone
The third stage was drowning Maiden out. I wondered if sharon osbourne had come over and turned them down again
the_skezz
Was considering it but the lineup for Hellfest blows it out of the water for me - Sabbath, Maiden, Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Queensryche, Status Quo, Soundgarden - so I'll be going for that instead. Well worth the travel to France. Hope all those going to Soni enjoy it immensely though; they should do if it's anything like it was when I went in 2010. One of the better organised festivals I've been to.
redbandit599
Blimey Skezz, that Hellfest line up is epic! Let's hope a few of them jump over the channel and join the Soni line up. I'm not going to say 'Hope you have a good time' because I can't see how you could avoid it!
