I've been to auditions for a few such promising sounding bands...

Whilst they may want you to play something different to the guitars you will still be expected to play what your told too...

A bass player writing his own bass lines what a ridiculous notion! now what you want to be doing is playing the root note of my (musically unrelated) chords... and preferably only once per bar.
