Strings for Hondo Alien / Kramer Duke

Does anyone have a Hondo Alien or a Kramer Duke and know what strings will fit properly?

It's short scale and the taper needs to be in the right place to fit through the tiny guitar-style tuners.

I used to have a Hondo Alien, and I can't remember any short scale (30" scale length) strings that I tried not fitting. Lots of European made short scale basses have tuners with guitar-string sized holes so the typical short scale string has to be made to fit them.

If you want specifics, Rotosound round wounds definitely fit.

Thanks BigRedX that's very helpful. I think I will try a set of status half rounds they work well my other short scale bass.
