Dave_the_bass
No Thanks! On the original subject of minor sale becoming major indebtedness I once went to a music shop in Derby (the late lamented Neville Brothers) to buy a set of strings for my acoustic (£6.00 or so). I went back to the office after lunch with a nice, shiny, brand new saxophone. I still dont understand how. Any ideas?
That's the Derby factor. I went in to foulds to replenish pick stocks and walked out with a Cello. This was when guitars etc were up stairs and nowhere near the "real" instruments! Jazzneck
The original Percy Priors in White Hart Street, High Wycombe was a magical spell filled place. Went in for ONE guitar plectrum and came out with a Vox T60 cabinet and The King of The Delta Blues Singer album. Had to take the cab home via Thames Valley busses as my Dad refused to carry the thing in his car in case it scuffed the roof lining. leschirons
Well it turns out that the Digitech Bass Squeezer is an absolute pile of poo. I thought it was maybe just me but reading the OVNI Compressor review site confirmed it. I suppose it could be useful if you wanted to make lots of hissing noises. Bugger Anyone want to buy it? It's really good.
Love the sales pitch but you really have a lot to learn if you really want to sell anything here. The studies suggest that you initially need to show the positives to draw the buyer in and any negatives are secondary so, your ad should have read like this. "Digitech bass compressor with DNE hiss enhancer. Original box and brand new cond. A great addition to any serious bassists kit. I'm only selling because it sounds sh*t" Hope this helps and feel free to copy / paste my suggestion into your advert in the "Marketplace" section. BassTractor
I went back to the office after lunch with a nice, shiny, brand new saxophone.
I am sorry for your loss. My condolences also to the family. (In all seriousness, a nice, shiny, brand new saxophone is a lot cooler than a set of strings for your acoustic - provided of course that the saxophone has that nice little extra bend near the mouth piece that makes it a tenor. In fact I was studying-to-buy one yesterday, but the price flabbergasted me slightly. For those 800 quid one could buy a bass!!! )
Chris Sharman
The first one I bought was an Alto. I now have a Tenor which I bought off Fleabay as the Trevor James Revolution I was looking at was hundreds more than I had. Got mine for £300! Fortunately Mrs S plays Sax herself so doesn't have much to put up with. The Cat's not so keen mind....
BassTractor
Wow! 300 seems like a great price! Last time I borrowed a tenor sax, I practised in bed, under the douvet (sp?). Kept the cat unaggressive. These days my dog is critical of my bass playing. Dirty rotten scoundrel! As to the topic, for years a local music shop has owed me a tremolo arm. Each and every time I go there to ask about it, I forget it the moment I cross the treshold and eye shiny objects. That demm thing must have cost me a million.
