Beedster Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 (edited) I've acquired a few strings over the last coupe of years and whilst I know what most of them are, I'm a few that are a mystery, all appear to be steel. I've got a few guts lying around also, I'm guessing there's not a lot of chance of identifying those? Set 1. Red silks at both ends. Set 2. Green and yellow silks at tail, red (G), yellow (D), black (A) and green (E) silks at head Set 3. Green and black silks at tail, brown (G), red (D), black (A) and green (E) silks at head Set 4. Red and black silks at tail, no silks at head Set 5. Red silks at tail, no silks at head Set 6. Blue silks at tail, red (G), yellow (D), blue (A), and green (E) silks at head Many thanks folks C Edited December 19, 2013 by Beedster Quote
EssentialTension Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 (edited) Have you tried this Chris? http://www.quinnviol...gidsearch.shtml Edited December 19, 2013 by EssentialTension Quote
Dad3353 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I could be wrong, but from your description, it looks as if they could be for double bass. Hope this helps. Quote
Beer of the Bass Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Set 1 may be Thomastik Spirocore Mittels. They would have barrel shaped aluminium looking ball-ends with roman numerals on them. Set 6 have the same colours as Innovation Honeys. Those would have visible orange nylon cores around brass bar-shaped ends. Quote
ubassman Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Chris - any chance you could post some photos in here ? Theres a BC String Identifier thread Set 1 - mostly likely Spiro Mittels Set 2 - ? Set 3 - Evah Pirazzis Set 4 - Pirastro Obligatos Set 5 - could be Stagg EUB strings Set 6 - Inovation Honeys? Quote
Beedster Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 Thanks guys, the above makes sense so far (i.e., going back through my my PMs they're sets I've bought to try but not got around to trying yet). Sets 2 and 5 still elusive, I'll take a look at the threads you've identified above Cheers Chris Quote
