Peavey Windsor 100W Valve Amp

Starting at £215. Seems like a lot bang for your buck. Anyone had experience of these?

May have been tempted were it not for the fact I've just invested in some valveage.

4 X EL34 and 3 X 12AX7. 100W RMS.

Get your bids in! C'maan, it only weights 43lb! :D

Yes, albeit limited. We were lent one, new, from our local music shop, for a week-end trial at our 'den'. We used my Bassman 2x15 cab, plugged in, and tried to get rid of the distortion by all means possible. At minimum gain, and with treble down, we could almost eliminate it. A harsh, fizzy break-up. When allowed to 'roar', we were quite underwhelmed by the 'whimper' that it was able to deliver. No, it wasn't busted, or faulty; rather more suited, imho, to a less-than-aware guitarist who thinks that that's how 100w valve amps should sound. For bass, absolutely unusable (I will admit to preferring a 'clean' sound...)
No, we didn't buy it, in fact we preferred a 100w ss Peavey PA head for our week-end. It went back to the shop, and I bought a Hartke 3500. It blew the Windsor away, from all points of view.
I've nothing but respect for Peavey, having dealt with many of their products, either as owner or as technician, for decades. I was very disappointed with the Windsor, however. Maybe we were just unlucky..? Could be.
