Dingus
Looks like a lot of bass for not a lot of money. Yamaha are masters at exceeding what you would expect at any given price point, so these are probably well worth trying.
White Cloud
You cant go wrong with Yamaha at any price point. Their QC puts certain much bigger names to shame....
Mornats
I've got the 4 string version and it's brilliant to play. Nice passive and active tone options. Has a humbucker sound, obviously from the humbucking pickups but worth mentioning as I find it quite un-vintage in tone. Not a bad thing of course but I've grown rather fond of the vintagey sound of my Overwater Classic J.
jezzaboy
I recently bought one of the cheaper TRBX 304`s and it is a superb bass for the cash. I can`t find one flaw with the build quality.
Freddy Le Cragg
If their basses are as sturdy and well made as their Pacifica guitars then they should be awesome!
ambient
I've got a 24 year old trb6 which is an amazing bass, and certainly built to last.
Jellyfish
Tried out a 505 as they were being released and they're stunning. They blow the equivalent 5-string models from other competitors out of the water. (I'm looking at you, Ibanez... )
RandomBass
The TRBX range does look stunning. I notice they have added a 174 to the range now.
JazzyYama
I've got one of these 5 string beasties - very impressive it is too - the main reason I went for the 505 rather than the 305 is seems like much better quality of pickups. Pinball
A good move, I played a couple and they were great. What really impressed me is the quality of the sound and all of the variations you get from it are usable. I also liked the fact that when you switched from passive to active you retained exactly the same sound and character but gain some power and thump. A great choice. chrismuzz
Yamaha basses are great. Well made and capable of incredible sounds.. they don't feel right to me though so I'd never own one.

Like I said, there's absolutely nothing wrong with any of them, they just didn't feel right o.
patrikmarky
Well I picked it up today ..it's truly amazing...cannot now justify what I've spent in the past on guitars I won't mention names..But well worth the few hundred pound it cost me... MindGoneBlank
I've got the 4-string version. Truly amazing bass regardless if price. The fact it's (in relative terms) so cheap is just a bonus. Yamaha hit the bullseye with this one. The TRBX304 is also excellent though the 504 is worth the extra. Once the word is out these basses will be very popular indeed.

Basslessfret
I think these look really interesting too - haven't managed to see one in the 'flesh' yet though. However, I'm really tempted to order one and have it delivered since they appear to offer just what I'm looking for in a new bass. The trans colours all look opaque in the photos (except the brown maybe). I really like to be able to see the wood grain when its a decent hardwood body. Has anyone seen a transparent white one 504/505? Can you see the mahogany wood grain through it? ead
I'd like to see a natural finish model too.
Basslessfret
Has anyone seen a transparent white one 504/505? Can you see the mahogany wood grain through it?
OK, since no-one else answered I will! I have now seen a trans white 505 - the grain does not really show through. In some light (especially bright light or daylight) the finish looks opaque and in dimmer artificial light you can just about see a hint of the wood grain underneath, but it is very subtle. The wood grain appears to show through much better on the trans brown one. Hope that this is of interest to someone else!
