Selling to EU countries

Happy Christmas BC'ers!

It looks promising that I might be selling my Acoustic Image combo to a buyer in Denmark
I have no experience of selling abroad, but I have just obtained quotes for shipping averaging around £70 fully insured to the value of £800.
Does any of our members have any experience of selling to Denmark or other EU countries? What would be the best method of payment?
Any other advice welcome, particularly in respect to the insurance cover…...

I've sold gear to Germany, France & Portugal with no problems whatsoever.
I've received payment via PayPal & IBAN transfer also with no problems.

£70 fully insured sounds like a reasonable price for sending an amp to me.

I have also sold and sent many items to European countries (Germany, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Belgium, France...) and never had a problem.
Payment has been always bank transfer, money being sent to me in pounds, not the equivalent in Euros as you might be hit by your bank with the exchange rate and end up not getting your sale price.

And a bank transfer may well take up to three days to clear with a European deal , so be aware.

Definitely try to get the money paid to you in £ and not €. In general terms it's cheaper for the buyer to use his bank to perform the conversion than for a receiving seller in the UK. Some UK banks have been known to charge as much as £25 just to perform the conversion.

Also worth checking that any country you're selling to is definitely in the EU. Some Scandinavian countries aren't and this means your buyer would be hit by local sales tax which could be as much as 25%

Denmark is in the EU and has the Danish crown as currency; it is highly unlikely that a buyer there would want to pay in Euros.

As far as Scandinavian countries not in the EU, that would be Norway. If you wish to include Iceland as part of Scandinavia, then them too.

I have bought a bass from Denmark where the seller had priced it in EUR.
Guess he was expecting to get a buyer from with the Euro zone

Hi all, I'm the buyer from Denmark :-)
I have no problem paying directly in £. I can do is straight from my internet banking service so that must be the easiest solution.

Can't wait to try the AI with my double bass :-)
