Annoying Twit
Is there an available DVD/Blu-ray of a bass player playing a solo concert? I mean someone like Steve Lawson or Jean Baudin. And, performance rather than instruction. There's Victor Wooten's "Live at Bass Day 1998", but that seems to contain cover versions. Which are nice (according to youtube), but I'd prefer something with original music. Michael Manring has done some interesting things on youtube, but I couldn't find a DVD. And to be honest in what I saw, he overdoes the detuning strings thing a bit much for my taste. Loopers, synths, avante-guarde collaborators all fine, as long as the bass is still stage central. ambient
There's a Michael Manring one which is absolutely amazing, I got it from a gig, it used too be available from his website.

ambient
It's well worth buying, I've had stuff from CD baby a few times, it usually arrives within a week. He did a one day masterclass and a gig the same night in Ireland a few years ago that I was very fortunate to attend, I picked my copy up from him there. dmccombe7
I've used CD Baby many times and they have been pretty good and reliable in case you're worried about them. Have you tried his website to buy Dave
visog
Solo bass guitar DVD recommendations Yes... avoid them! Much as I love playing the bass, you have to look at it from a listener's point of view and trudging through a harmonic muddy field is hard work. It's fine for an amp demo at a music show but monotonous after a while to hear a single instrument. (I find this with solo classical guitar and piano too.) Give me drums, strings, synthesizers, vocals, bagpipes please. Let's face it Victor Wooten's great but I couldn't eat a whole one...
