Think phenomenally clear clean and warm studio bass sound - great stuff! No doubt if you were interested enough to click on the this thread you'll know what these are. Think vintage console desk channel (Neve/API i don't know the difference!) Transformer based input buffer, transformer output, lovely sounding coil based Eq. Sounds fantastic. As I say overkill for me - but possibly the ultimate Bass preamp. Fantastic condition, the only thing different from new is you can tell behind the screws it's been in a rack and will replaced one of the switch plates. I traded it with Will, he had it valued at £650 so that for cash - which is as cheap as I've seen one or feel free to try me for [b]trades for a bass amp[/b] or whatever! It does see a long time ago - I've no idea why it's still here, open to offers open to trades... shrugs... I actually quite like it as a bit of gear, its sound and tone is phenomenal - but for me as a component in my rig it's not the best match to my cab.... plugged through a PA though it shines.... we use IEM at church and the other bassists use the preamp from a ashdown ABM one time I did too.... and soloing it hearing it in ears it really brought my attention to the horrid harsh uneven tone... next time took the hellborg and the full, rich and musical nature of it came out again As a very very fancy DI box, with the Eq turned off I love it. The Eq isn't the most flexible - but is just a nice musical sounding Eq.
72deluxe Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I would buy this in a snap if I had the money. It looks great. And would make a lovely addition to the unnecessary preamps I currently have. Hopefully one day I will be able to convince my poor wife that I "need" another preamp.
