Hi everyone,

Not sure if this is the right thread to post this on as I've only ever bought/sold stuff on here, but need a bit of advice on pickup choice for a '97 Streamer Pro M.

I bought the Streamer Pro M about three or four years ago in a pretty shocking condition, the neck was extremely dry and it showed very clearly, the box that was supplied was chipboard and terrible and the lacquer around the cavity control is completely cracked, and the wiring was a mess, instead of being resoldered by the previous seller, being stuck together with duct tape. The electronics were resoldered, new wire installed and the neck waxed for months and some hardware replaced but for the past year it has just lost its punch. New strings haven't saved it, EQ or adjusting my amp, it just isn't the bass it is supposed to be. I've upgraded to a Stage I now, but I'm getting some work done in the new year so I have a reliable back up. I'm going to have a full set up done, and have the electronics looked at. I don't know if its the rewiring, the preamp itself, the pickup or just bad set up but I've seen an interesting idea from Andy Irvine.

He's put a Jazz pickup to make the Twin J bridge (stock) a MusicMan style pickup and have a Jazz covering the neck position and it sounds how I imagine the Pro M should. I don't have much experience with this sort of thing and I am stuck between 4 pickups, and wanted a bit of advice on which of the four pickups you think would be best/ are your personal preference and why. I am predominatley a funk player, sometimes playing rock or jazz, so if anyone can say which of these 4 are best for that style/s of music, I'd appreciate it very much.

Warwick MEC Jazz 5
Bartolini 59J
Lollar Jazz 5
Aero J Bass 5

Cheers!
