the boy Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 All very Burt inspired so far. I may bow out this month as I can't seem to get inspired at all. Every idea keeps reverting to some kind of honky tonk repetitive ensemble. I will give it another week. Quote

I mean, you've either got a country/mid-West number with some reference to the Escher picture, or you've got the challenge of taking the genre from the Escher pic (Techno? Mathcore?) and somehow referencing Burt Reynolds (and good luck with that!). Like most people I'm taking the path of least resistance and opting for the former [i]Yeeehaw![/i] Quote

[/quote] For 'live' vocals, and good for recording too, we use an AKG C5 with success. Ours cost 100€ used (one careful owner...). Our other condenser mics are Superlux, but they came in a kit for drums (Superlux DRK-F5H3, $300 new...), so would be harder to find individually. Very nice large diaphragm mics, though (HO-8...). AL-the-Bassman Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 sometimes, its better to go for a cheaper mic, i had a mic that cost 500 quid, and it was so sensitive, that it picked up EVERYTHING in the room ( Normal untreated room) and sounded terrible. so i had to use a cheapy 30 quid mic, and it worked a treat. but you can't go wrong with a 58 Quote
