cameltoe
Well, after hankering for a JV for a while, my Christmas dream came true! No pics no bass, so here she is! Looks white in the photos, but the pickguard is parchment. A few honest gigging marks so not mint by any stretch but still in good order for a 30 year old bass. Nice bit of grain in the body, would you say this was Alder? JV45*** First job was to wire wool the neck-that gloss poly finish wasn't exactly to my liking, and I've done this before with great results-it's turned out well again. So much more comfortable. Just managed to tweak the setup to my liking, and she plays wonderfully well, sounds fantastic, everything seems to be original except the addition of a three-ply parchment pickguard (I would prefer gold anodized in the future) and the jack has been replaced with a switchcraft at some point. I had never played a JV before, so was rather taken in by the hype in terms of my GAS, but I'm pleased to report the rumours appear to be true- at least as far as this one is concerned- it's a very well put together instrument indeed. As some kind of comparison I would put this ahead of my old 2005 USA P bass without hesitation. She weighs in around 8.5lbs so fairly light, but perfectly balanced, and just feels very comfortable to play. The neck is absolutely magnificent- vintage correct 1 5/8 width and fairly slim front to back- less chunky than the neck on the E-series P that I used as part of the trade. Dated in pencil at the butt 3-29-'83 Thanks to Mrs Cameltoe for my Xmas gift and David from Cotswold bass guitars for his hospitality and helping satisfy my GAS needs with a very smooth trade deal! Can't recommend him highly enough.

Paul S
I have one very similar and straight out of the case it is the nicest Precision bass I have picked up. The more people say such things the more I think it isn't hype about these JVs but actually true. We can't all be lucky!
Lozz196
Great looking bass, could be alder, possibly ash?
cameltoe
One or the other! I have no idea about grain, I just know it isn't basswood. I know they finished some in Sen, but I thought that was just the earlier Fender branded ones. She is a beaut- my photos don't do it justice. The photo's on David's site are far better. I have those stupid LED bulbs in my house that make pictures come out a bit rubbish!
JapanAxe
Congratulations Mr Toe. As I have remarked elsewhere, Cotswold Bass Guitars always have an interesting range in stock.
