johnt105
Hi there, Just saying hi and hoping you guys can point me in the right direction. I'm a guitarist of around 12 years experience looking to convert over to playing bass too. Where is a good point to start off, what skills can I bring with me from the 6 stringer and what should I try and avoid doing when playing 4 instead of 6 strings. Hope you can give me some pointers! rjb
Don't use a pick. ^_^ Hehe. Only joking! (runs for cover). Seriously, a good fretboard technique and knowledge of chords will give you a great platform on which to build, but you will find that your right hand technique (whether you a use pick or not) will need to become more percussive depending on the type of guitar music you usually play. Hamster
Hi IMHO the best thing to do is hook up to a bass tutor so you get a solid start - whe're you based? Hamster
King Tut
Thnk about what's best for the music - the best bass players are the ones you don't notice. Subtlety is king - remember - playing bass is usually a supporting role! Welcome to our world - de dum de doo doo dum!
