dave_bass5 Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 just seen this on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/SterlingbyMusicMan/posts/10152129056542302:0 I've always hated the look of the traditional 5 string MM, but this looks right up my street. Quote
mushers Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 oh man wish i hadn't seen this thread i feel my wallet getting lighter already Quote
dave_bass5 Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 I thought I had getting another SBMM out of my system until that popped up. Nice isn't it? Quote
antnee Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 I agree, never been a fan of the usual style of 5 String MusicMans, but that is very appealing to the eye! Think I'll stick to a 4 Stringer though. Quote
mushers Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 both those 5's look great have a feeling we will have more chance of hens teeth being in stock in the UK tho Quote
dave_bass5 Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 I think we will have a few months wait yet but I dont see why we won't get them. It does seem like the cost of the SBMM range has jumped up since the first models came out (I paid £450 for my ray34), I'd expect these to be closer to £800 so probably won't sell too well over here. Rumple Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Looks really great, I don't get on with the MM slab bodies though, I find it a bit uncomfortable. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 Yes, I found my SBMM Ray34 a lot more comfortable than the SUB I had, although given the choice I wish I had kept the SUB now. Quote
Jonnyboy Rotten Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 I really like the 5 string style pick guard! Quote
ezbass Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014
I really like the 5 string style pick guard!
I don't mind the normal 'Ray 5 p/g particularly, but there is something just right about the 'normal' p/g and electronics plate. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 Actually thinking about it my issue isn't so much the pickgiard, it's that slider switch as well. It reminds me of a cheap guitar. Quote
theyellowcar Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 On a slightly related note, did you see the new SUB finishes? That blue!!! https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151967996267302&id=267855672301&set=a.267941452301.140511.267855672301&source=46&refid=17 Quote
dannybuoy Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) Spotted that on TB the other day - there's a thread about these basses where the guy from SBMM is asking what finishes people want to see - I want a transparent orange version of that blue one, but otherwise I might pick one of those up in blue if they ever make it to our shores! dave_bass5 Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Oh my, that's a lovely finish. I would be very tempted If they did them with maple finger boards. Quote
theyellowcar Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Might have to pop over there and make my thoughts known! Still, if the blue made it over here at the same price as the other SUB basses I don't think I would be able to stop myself! Quote
Bolo Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 These look like 4 strings though? Best double check if they do a five in that colour. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 The 5 string CA would be the first choice, the blue is just something id like at some point so im not too worried at the moment. Quote
dannybuoy Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 They don't do the 5's in the new transparent blue/black, but maybe one day! Quote
antnee Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 That blue! Beautiful! Would seriously consider trading my white one for it... Quote
