UglyDog Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 There's a TOTP retrospective at the moment, with a 'hits' compilation to follow at 1.30 Lovin' it Quote
Mr Arkadin Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 1979 was my musical coming of age year. Some great stuff, although I may have preferred less Sir Cliff and Nolans. Nice to see Bruce Foxton had exactly the same bass as me (maple 4003). Quote
kevin_lindsay Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 I'm currently watching it with my 11 year old son. Michael Jackson just performed with The Jacksons my son Jonathan just said, "woah, is that Michael Jackson?". Yes son, thats him. "Dad, how come he's got fake tan on"??? Quote

chriswareham Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Couple of great punk or post punk bass guitar lines on there - Babylon's Burning by The Ruts and Into The Valley by The Skids. Tabbed out Babylon's Burning yesterday morning as all the ones on the web are hilariously wrong, but can't get the first two bars of the chorus to sound right. Anyone got a tab for that bit? It's rooted on // D / F-E // Quote

KevB Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Looks like the BBC are gamely trying to carry on doing the week by week programmes, this Thurs (BBC4 19:30) will be the show originally shown 04/01/79 and features Generation X, Elton John, Ian Dury & the Blockheads, Olivia Newton-John and Racey. By 79 more DJ's were being used so they won't have to keep editing episodes featuring JS and DLT so often with any luck. Quote
