topheteatwo
Interested in learning some cool scales again I know my basic ones, but are there any one's that are a little weirder and cooler to crack out? I've lost my connection with scales that I once had?
ambient
Minor, major, melodic minor, the major modes are all useful too.
chrismuzz
Basically all the major modes, then depending on if you want to mess about a bit, harmonic/melodic major/minor, and experimenting with adding random notes here and there to watch the guitarist wince
lowdown
One of the Arabic scales is good fun. You can get some unusual chord and harmony progressions going (great for out of the box composing) Hopeless on a twelve bar blues gig though.. C/Db/E/F/G/Ab/B/C (Double Harmonic Major Scale or Byzantine Scale) Edited January 7, 2014 by lowdown
SaxyBassist
Diminshed and wholetone patterns are cool for playing "outside"
jgmh315
I learnt the minor pentatonic and the major modes, you can improvise over just about anything.
