GB NX2 2x12 adding extra handle

Hi
As there are lots of new Genz NX2 2X12 cab owners, after all of the bargains.
Has anyone retro fitted an extra handle at the top/ back of the cab so you can use the tilt back function.
I have been thinking about doing this as the side handles make it really awkward.

Has anyone opened the cab up to see if there is clearance inside for fixings?

Cheers

Not opened up my cab and agreed the handles are in a silly position, how about a strap style handle or an Ampeg style 'towel rail' style handle as each wouldn't require invasive surgery to attach?

Yeah, i was thinking down the lines of a strap handle, similar to the new "barefaced" style.
I would still probably want to open it up though and then fit either a plate or washers and nuts/ bolts to the inside, just in case i ripped the thing off when moving it.
I might have a look at the weekend, if i do i'll put some pics up.

I personally think they are in a good place for a two person lift.

I agree, i'm talking about the tilt back option though.
It seems very awkward, you have to walk backwards.
I end up just carrying it on my own most of the time. It is pretty light though.

I tend to walk forwards, wheeling it in front of me.

Having a single handle in the middle at the top rear of the cab would certainly be ideal though.

I'm in this camp too, yay :D ...was considering this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171139721096?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 but not sure i've got the b*ll*x for invasive surgery yet. Great cabs though aren't they ;)

They are great cabs, I love the sound and weight. I might look into getting one of those sack barrows too, looks like a good idea.

I tried a fair few collapsible trolleys when carting my gear round London to gigs on the underground. I eventually settled on something like this as the others kept breaking and a decent trolley and ties makes wheeling a rig around a real joy! :)

Still using it today to get my rig to the local and back!

Well it had to be done in the end, seems to do the trick so far...just hope the Genz wheels hold out. Even cut a hole in the Roqsolid cover (i know, that was the sacrilege moment of it all) and stapled up the bottom of the cover where it was catching the wheels.

It's totally function band ready.......just a shame it hasn't got a functional inflatable pillow for those hanging around moments at the typical wedding gigs

That looks cool, got any links to what you bought?
Is it screwed or bolted?
I took mine apart to check for internal clearance. Shame I couldn't get hold of another genz handle to put in the middle.

Fortunately I didn't have to buy anything as i had an old 4U sleeve in the shed so i lifted that handle :yarr: . Its just screwed in and is pretty tight, pretty hefty screws too, plus the mental faster parts have sharp edges that dig into the wood as you tighten the screws. Works a treat so far, although i may replace the screws for nuts and bolts should they come loose....but come to think of it the 4U case used to house a heavy amp some years ago, probably heavier than this Genz cab too.

My handle is similar to this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gold-Guitar-Amplifier-Strap-Handle-for-Marshall-Plexi-and-other-amp-cabinets- /121273373423?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=item1c3c74d2ef :)

Nice one, looks good.
I'm sure it's strong enough, but I would still be tempted to use bolts. I found the easiest way to get into the cab is just take one of the side handles off. This leaves quite a big hole to reach inside.

I actually think that would look rather good, and they're much more ergonomical than your typical amp/cab handle.

Hmmmm ... thinks.

That's a mighty one!

I use a foldable one like this. Agreed, it's not as robust, but mine's still going after years of humping bass & PA gear around. The one you posted definitely looks more sturdy, but mine stores more conveniently - especially in the car! But, for your purposes, and getting around public transport, then yours may well be the better option.

I've often thought a cab with a hole for an axle would be a really good idea to move cabs around - slide in the axle, pun the wheels then off you go, then slide out at the venue. Could also come as a retro fit perhaps.

I have a similar sack trolley and it's great for public transport - giggled recently taking my big twin two Ashdown head, pedal board and Bass. A little guard work on steps but a collapsible wouldn't get close!

Nice handle by the way!!!! :)

T-nuts are the answer, easy to install and allows the handle to be firmly through-bolted without needing to mess around inside the cab with a spanner. Same things most manufacturers use to secure their speakers in cabs.

My SWR Goliath Snr has tilt back wheels and a centre located rear handle. Word of caution, always pull this behind you, never push in front. I learned this the hard way after doing the equivalent of a Fosbury Flop over said cab when the wheels caught an uneven paving slab
