ambient
Following on from my string quartet piece the other week. My other Christmas project is this. We're given a short clip of film, approximately 58 seconds long, with 4 sections to it. We have to compose an orchestral soundtrack to it. This is mine, it's also my first attempt at this sort of thing. The main part was done one night, I'm at my most creative at that time. I started about 2am and finished about 3 hours later . Bits have been added, and other bits taken away since then, but anyway opinions please. ambient
I don't think so, might get into trouble .
neepheid
I enjoyed that little clip. It's hard to talk about something which is intended to be in the background of some visuals in the same way as one discusses foreground music, so I'd rather tell you what I imagined was going on in the accompanying film. I either thought of someone trying to remember something/someone at the beginning, then they find what they're looking for in the calmer next bit, then something bad happens to them when the pace quickens again. Either that or a safe cracker or someone disarming a bomb. Concentrating, moment of slo-mo where they turn the dial/cut the wire, pace quickens as they think they've messed it up, then it's OK. Musically speaking, it's probably good for running underneath some accompanying visuals - atmospheric without being overly attention seeking, changes mood with what I guess to be scene changes or story twist/turn. gjones
I like it. Those orchestral samples are incredibly realistic. As sampling has got better, the chances of employment for orchestral musicians must be few and far between.
