bassfunk
Hi Guys Towards the end of last year I went into the studio with my new jazz quartet. I've been playing jazz and double bass for around 9 months so there's nothing flashy. My bass is an Antoni debut with Innovation Silvers, again nothing flashy. We recorded at Basschat's very own Cheddatom's studio: http://www.rifffactoryrecordings.com/ Have a listen https://thesilvermoonquartet.bandpage.com/ We're still working on a website and need a proper photo shoot. I'd appreciate any feedback on improvements on playing, sound and your general feedback. Big thanks to Tom who was rally easy to work with and made this a really relaxed easy process. Thanks Pete
timbo1978
Sounds great I play a few of those tracks with a trio I'm in so it's nice to hear what you do with them.
gjones
It's a nice sound you have there, it doesn't sound like a inexpensive bass. And the playing is great, considering you've only recently started playing DB.
bassfunk
Thanks guys.I've found the transition surprisingly easy. But I do struggle further up the neck and really need to look at thumb position - this scares me!
Marc S
Nice sound, I've been playing for a similar sort of time really... Well, I started with a Stagg over a year back, and I didn't get into it, until I changed the awful strings it came with.... much better now I bought a Boosey & Hawkes from a fellow BC'er and have never looked back One thing I have done, is initially to sort of "strip back" my playing I was firstly trying to play the DB like I play bass guitar, but that didn't work so well for me Nice to hear that you've made the switch easily I fitted Innovation SIlver Slaps to my bass, and I like them How do you feel about them? bassfunk
Thanks Marc I started on the Stagg too. It would be good to hear some of your playing. I've got Super Silvers on my bass not the slaps. But I really like them, good low tension and they seem to add a lot of depth and Character.I tried Honey's and they were good, but the Silvers just appeal more to me. geoffbassist
I like the cool guitar tone at the start and the bass playing is really tasteful and solid. Great job!
bassfunk
Thanks Geoff. The guitarist is a great player and carries the rest of us quite a bit. With my (limited)vocabulary solid and tasteful is what I was going for. I love your YouTube lessons by the way.
