EMG456 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I like that a lot... hate Marmite though. Cheers. Ed Quote
chrismuzz Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Still looks nicer than that ugly Dean signature bass he had! Quote
Urban Bassman Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I like the look of it too, wonder how much? Quote
Spoombung Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I quite like the way Jeff endorses cheap brands. He's a man of the people. Quote
NJE Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 odd comment but that is a really nice looking headstock, is that a new shape? looks a bit Pensa/Celinder......not sure about the 50/50 body, but looks like a nice bass. I would like to see those features and spec on a non signature bass though, preferably without gold hardware. Quote
White Cloud Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Love Jeff - hate that bass though. Its a bit of a departure for him...he usually hates fancy wood tops & only ever uses Badass bridges and Ebony fingerboards. Quote
Big_Stu Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Should look nice when it's finished....... Quote
BigAlonBass Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 It looks like someone started to peel the Fablon off, then got bored half-way. Quote
leschirons Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I know the body woods are the "making a statement" bit but apart from that, I like the bass in general. Nice shape. Quote
risingson Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Love marmite! But what a seriously nasty looking bass. Quote
visog Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I always wanted to try his Peavey Palladium. Apparently it was a great bass and a steal at circa £300 at the time? Anyone got one? P.S. The Cort looks ridiculous... Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I like the general design of the thing but the finish is questionable, to say the least. Corts are excellent basses, I'm not surprised Jeff likes them. I'm still amazed by this but at the last London Bass Guitar Show, the Cort basses I tried were the nicest I played all weekend. I like Jeff, too, even though I disagree with most of the things he says! Quote

They have a wonderful reputation. I owned one of the Czech made original Dean Jeff Berlin models, it sounded beautiful and played like a dream. It had the slimmest neck I have ever played - but suffered from "constant truss rod adjustment syndrome" as a consequence! Quote

[/quote] Yep - I made the mistake of NOT buying a Palaedium when I could have gotten the "artist deal" price in Nashville when they lunched. A great alternative to a Precision at the time and seriously cheap. Only Peavey bass I ever played and actually liked. Edited January 7, 2017 by ivansc Quote
Bilbo Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 I had a student with a Palladium in Cardiff. I remember it being very playable but light. As a Wal player, I always struggle with basses without a little weight to them. I always think that the sound will be thin.I had the same experience when I tried an Alembic. It's not rational, though. The Palladium was a perfectly credible instrument. Quote
Bilbo Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 I think part of my problem with JB endorsed basses is that I don't like JB's sound. He needs a thin neck to do his thing but I don't like his thing so can't shake the feeling that the basses won't deliver what I need. Quote

spectoremg Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Talk about flavour of the month. I'll get my (half-varnish) coat. Quote
