gub
Hi folks I trying to get a decent enough sound to play dani California by rhcp live, and suggestions on settings would Be great
paul_5
Most of (if not all of) that album is a Jazz bass, so I'd boost the top end and scoop some of the mids out of your EQ. Unless you've fot a jazz bass, in which case just give the strings a real spanking as tou play the line; Flea tends not to take any prisoners with his right hand technique. Kev
He also likes his strings very fresh, which will also help. He doesn't use too much in the way of effects, at all. All the tone is in the Jazz and those fingers.
badboy1984
Aren't part of flea's tone is low action and plugging the string really hard to get that fret buzz tone?
Fionn
You'll find this interesting ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ARZGwfhC_U
bakerster135
Definitely got some of that GK grind too, or certainly a modern SS amp-type sound. You might find this interesting too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiTz51TPdo8
d-basser
Think that most of that album was recorded on a Jazz with flatwounds
gub
Thanks for the advice chaps, I do use a jazz as it happens, I have ordered a milkbox compressor too so see what that brings to the mix
