ash2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 forgive my noobness but how would i know whether my mex jazz bass is active or passive? i can just see an obvious answer coming... Quote
E_MaN Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Its a passive. An easy way to check whether a bass is active or passive is too see if there is a large panel at the back of the bass which you can take off to look at the unit. Quote
ash2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 thanks.but i knew anyway...was just testing ya all Quote
crez5150 Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 In addition to the above.... most Active basses are run on 9/18v circuit (i.e a single or double pp3 battery box will be visible) Quote
bass_ferret Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 An active bass has to have a battery. It is possible to phantom power actives with some (EBS) amps but nobody would build an active bass in expectation of phantom power. Quote
E_MaN Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 also alot of active basses have higher output, but that varies ALOT. Quote
