RickyV
I've done a search, but it appears that Entwistle P and J pickups are only available for four string basses, not five string basses
That's a shame as they are great value for the money. pfretrock
I considered putting a new bridge on my PJ HTR 5, but I'm not sure it would make much difference.
Easier set up was the only reason I changed the bridge. Have you tried contacting through the website for 5 pups? Looks like a very friendly guy. I don't feel it's right to ask when I'm not too sure if I'd do it. Various google and ebay searches don't steal time from hard-working people. That fretless looks great. Edit: Anyone luck out? Edited December 8, 2015 by ben4343
Annoying Twit
Absolutely loads went up on the main site, not the mobile site, but then my dreadfully unreliable work internet went down. I don't know how many are left, but there was a fretless jazz bass, 12 string acoustic, fancy CST-24TOL, rosewood tele, HBZ-2004 neck through. I tried to get on here ASAP, but the internet isn't running EDIT: Just checked. All gone. Sorry that I couldn't tell people sooner. ben4343
Don't beat yourself up, there wasn't much of a purchase window anyway AT! I was refreshing regularly this morning (both main and mobile), and like I said I reckon it was sub 30 minutes between there not being anything, and them all being sold out! Such a shame, I quite fancy a new Christmas deko...
Annoying Twit
I'm not sure if they were there when I started my prog, but I think they weren't. Hence, they would have been available when the program told me they were. If I hadn't been in a panic, I might have gone for the fretless Jazz. Maybe. One thing though, this shows that dekos as a concept are still very active. I'm sure there will be other opportunities.
CustardFilled
Well here's how much Jazz bass £40 or so gets you (apologies for the phone quality pictures)... The deco status presumably derives from the scuff in the finish just above the neck plate, as pictured; otherwise I've not really been able to find anything untoward. It looks great as a whole, and the gold saddles work rather well with the aesthetic. The neck seems good ergonomically, although the wood feels (understandably) a bit cheap to the touch. Never a huge fan of the clangy d'addario strings, but I'll probably sub them out for some Rotosounds when I get a chance. The bridge pickup needs lowering a bit, and both are a bit tinny in quality, but they're not as bad as I was expecting. Am undecided as to whether to sub them out for something like the Entwistles or something a tier or two above. Overall though you can hardly complain for the price. I can't say the scuff bothers me overly, nor probably would it concern anyone if I decided to move it on. A bit of tinkering and it's more than playable, and I think it could actually be a rather good instrument for not a lot of money!
Andytre
i believe that scuff is the D stamp, clearly someone went a bit overboard with it! did this model come with wilkinson pickups? my sunburst one did and they sound pretty good to me! I need to adjust them a little before I can really comment, but yeah they sound basically fine, perhaps slightly tinny xD

I check in to the mobile and desktop sites a few times during the day on my phone. I've been quite lucky recently and got a 5 string fretless and two nylon strung classicals. All have needed a bit of a set up and new strings but they are unbelievable value for money. Jas
Fisheth
There's one I'm eying up right now, what's the quality on these like? Hit and miss? Or are they playable?

I thought it played and sounded fine. Perhaps it felt its price a little bit, but there was nothing seriously wrong with it. It is the only deko I've seen in person that didn't need setup changes. @CustardFilled - that looks really nice. Congratulations. @Fisheth - all three dekos I've bought (one for someone else) played fine once the setup was fixed. Others have had more mixed fortunes. The finish isn't the best, but for the price they are a bargain and worth a punt. If you get one, just remember how much you paid for it. I have got a very playable, reasonable sounding nylon classical acoustic for the grand total of £19 including postage from Germany. Most people can't see what's wrong with it because the flaws are very minor. I realise not everyone has had the same experience, so it's a gamble, but the odds are in your favour. Shockwave
About 1/2 of them for me have had playability issues, high frets etc. two have had absolute banana necks that couldn't be sorted. They are sold for decoration so you cant bank on it.
Andytre
all but 2 of the 10 iv had (not all for me i promise!!) have been fine build wise just some electrical problems such as dodgy input jacks or a loose wire. the 2 with the most problems were with the neck (high fret or a small ramp in the neck) everything else was sound, ended up giving one neck to AT as i had a spare lying around and the other i got playable after a good setup. I've had quite a ferw that were fine setup wise straight out the box, especially the PB-50 with apart from the dodgy input jack was perfect!
