Annoying Twit
Congratulations! Is your A string on the PB-20 lower than the other strings? BTW: Left handed acoustic bass and baritone guitar dekos now gone. Edited May 7, 2015 by Annoying Twit
Vixivi
The A strings was indeed lower and the truss rod was a little too tight. So i raised the A string and loosened up the truss a bit and no more buzz! Aside from the D stamps i dont think anyone would recognize this as a deko. It's a perfectly fine bass now. And about the pot: adding a washer fixed the scratching. Edited May 7, 2015 by Vixivi

Annoying Twit
DEKOS! http://www.thomann.d...and_basses.html EDIT: NO BASSES!! OUTRAGE!!!!! I put a Les Paul copy in my shopping cart, as they disappear so fast I'm tempted to try and buy one for the sport of it. EDIT: Les Paul still there. That's unusual. Unprecedented? http://www.thomann.d..._serie_deko.htm Sold out already. Pointy thing still there: http://www.thomann.d...series_deko.htm EDIT: Odd, the sold out items aren't disappearing from the main deko list. I do want a classical guitar, but would prefer something more upmarket than a CG200. Even if the deko version is £9. http://www.thomann.d...200_bk_deko.htm The sold out items are still there in the list. If this is going to start recurring, I'm going to have to rewrite my program. Edited May 7, 2015 by Annoying Twit
yorks5stringer
Just an idle musing, why when I click initially on the Guitar and Bass Decos, it says 13 available, I then go in to find 5 although it says 4? Where do the other ones vanish to?
BigRedX
interesting... just looked at the deko page on my phone instead of my computer as I normally do and it's completely different. The prices are slightly different too. In other news I'm going to be using the baritone guitar in the studio this weekend.
Annoying Twit
The mobile site lists a number of dekos that are sold out: https://m.thomann.de/gb/decorative_guitars_and_basses.html?ref=mpd_sn_1 19 instruments there (it says, I didn't count), but only four are marked as available. The rest are shown as sold out. The prices appears to be the same compared to the normal web site. It has been the case for a while that sometimes the number listed on the page is different from the actual number of instruments, but the normal deko page usually just shows available instruments. Annoying Twit
DEKOS! Given recent events, not sure that the are all live. But, I see P-bass, PJ-HTR, Beatbass. EDIT: They seem to be live. Beatbass is live http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_beatbass_vs_vintage_se_deko.htm £32.74 PJ-HTR 4 string too. http://www.thomann.d...series_deko.htm £26.79 P-Bass. http://www.thomann.d...d_seri_deko.htm £19.35 LH Acoustic back again. http://www.thomann.d..._nt_lh_deko.htm Bolt-on SG guitar. http://www.thomann.d...200_bk_deko.htm http://www.thomann.d...and_basses.html EDIT: All still up. I was away from my computer and didn't hear the Dekos being added. But, they seem to be staying around a bit. I'm tempted by the Beatbass, but I just don't need one. Even at £32 something. EDIT: Beatbass and SG guitar gone. But, PJ and P basses still up, as well as the LH acoustic that has been coming and going for a while. EDIT: PJ, LH acoustic, and P-Bass still up at 9am. This is unprecedented, at least for a very long time, for the P-Bass and PJ. Perhaps the market for dekos is starting to get saturated? EDIT: All of last night's new ones gone now. Annoying Twit
Is there a familiar mark on the heel of this guitar? Left Foot
Well, this is exactly what I thought would start to happen with all these deko basses beginning to get through to ebay. There's even one of the dead cheap 450berhinger heads that cost 100 delivered on ebay for a starting price of 90 plus 20 delivery. People don't miss a trick do they, it's a shame everyone wants to profiteer like this really
Annoying Twit
As in some threads in the ebay forum, there have been quite a few attempts to sell HB instruments at more than their new price. Generally they don't sell, but they do sometimes. Selling dekos at more than new price does seem to work, however.
BigRedX
Our guitarist used the deko baritone guitar on our most recent recording session for the Terrortones album. mike257
I'm really tempted by that 5 string P that a few of you seem to have grabbed. Don't have a five in my collection but finally started running in to situations where I could do with one, seem a nice (and mod friendly) way to start dabbling! Vixivi
Beware tho, once you realize how much fun it is to buy these cheap basses and mod them, you're hooked. I'm already owner of 5 Harley Benton basses and i still want (need) more. On topic of the deko's: I gigged my deko JB-20 today and i got a funny comment from the drummer. He said: "so you're not playing bass, you're playing decoration? sounds pretty good for decoration" And further about the PB-20: The buzzing was caused by a slight warp in the neck. Raising the action fixes it, so the bass can't have ultra low action but plays great aside from that.

I modded my deko JB-20 as the electronics were shot when I got it but interested in how you think a standard JB-20 sounds?

leonardobass
My PB-20 has been playing great so far. The one thing I noticed is that the truss rod is very light to turn,it still adjusts the neck but I'm not sure if it's suppose to feel that light. Has anybody had the same issue? uncle psychosis
I was showing Mrs Psychosis the Mosrite-style baritone when she let slip "thats pretty". I'm sure you can guess the rest.

We have a particularly uninteresting set of dekos available right now, but it's always darkest before the dawn. I think it sounds quite good, only other jazz bass i can compare it too is my Harley Benton JB-75 with Wilkinson pups. In comparison to that one it sound warmer, more low mids present i think. I'll try to record a soundclip one of these days.
