landwomble Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Lovely looking thing, that, aside from the scratchguard it's the spit of my 1998 MIJ Fender 70s reissue. Sunburst, blocks, rosewood - great combo! Quote
landwomble Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Oooh, forgot to mention. My shorty P bass had a very slightly rough neck. It's a matte finish (not sure if all their guitars are finished the same way) but a very quick rubdown with a 320/220 grit foam sanding pad and it's *butter* smooth now. Lovely. Quote

Myke Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015
I was editing the thread, and didn't see your post Myke. Congratulations! Hopefully you won't receive the dreaded 'actually, out of stock' email, and it's in good shape when it gets to you.
I haven't as of yet. Fingers crossed that I won't get one but if I do then that's how it goes! Quote
Left Foot Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Mine took three days. I thought it was confirmation but alas, no. Good luck. Quote

kodiakblair Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Never waited longer than next day for confirmation email. Could the 3 days been over a weekend or bank holiday ? Quote

yorks5stringer Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) Well my Ukele Bass has just arrived. Upon close inspection there is one tiny dint on the top, the diameter of a ball-point pen tip but hardly noticeable with another on the body side, near the heel, again tiny. The electrics work fine with a built-in Tuner and it plays well although the rubber strings are something to get used to! Are you meant to put talcum on your hands to play these? Slight buzz around the 5th fret on the A&D strings so I may experiment with the Truss Rod... The back and sides are nice wood, the top although "book-matched" has knot marks above and below the sound hole. Sounds quite cool through my Mark Bass 801. bartelby Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) I think I've managed to order a LH Jazz. My work computer decided to block Paypal, for the first time ever. Then threw SSL errors when I tried to use a card Then just didn't load the pay by Amazon option. So I ran outside with my phone and the 3G connection decided to be excruciatingly slow... But I think I might have managed it!!! EDIT: Although the mobile site says everything is sold out... EDIT 2: Actually, the mobile site is still showing dekos from the other evening... alittlebitrobot Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 tempted by that resonator, for no good reason.. Quote
alittlebitrobot Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 haha, nice one, Bartelby. Sounds like you earned it. Quote
The web filtering gubbins the office uses is throwing a fit at the moment. Blocking allowed content and not blocking the stuff it should. If I'd have missed out I'd have been seriously miffed! I can now delete the 11pm and 3am alarms from my phone!! EDIT: Now if my Chinese pickups that I ordered 6 weeks ago would arrive, I can get on with my ratty bitsa bass... Edited June 5, 2015 by bartelby Quote

kodiakblair Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 York5stringer I found talc helped alot and I also had strings bounce all over the fretboard, using a gentler attack improved things 100%. Quote
I have great big fingers so need to ensure I'm fretting the notes correctly too. Just need to get some talc then. Does "perfumed" make any difference? Quote
kodiakblair Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Had a hell of a time looking for unperfumed talc so just got Nivea pure fine talc from the £ shop. Another thing I noticed was until the strings settle fretting too hard has the same effect as bending the strings, the note will be slightly sharp. You'll find you'll be tuning up often as well and it takes loads of turns to get it right. Had mines a good few months now so strings have settled down, great wee bass to have. Tempted to go for a fretless sometime. Quote
bartelby Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Ha, I guess I needn't have panicked, there's still some LH Jazzes available apparently... Quote
I'll wish you the best of luck, but past experience suggests that you have to wait for the dispatched email to be absolutely sure. That it still says 'Available immediately' is promising though. As, if I remember correctly, is that it is left handed. I think LH basses (and guitars) hang around longer. Myke Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Yay! Got the dispatch email today. Now I have to hope that it isn't naff! Quote
