Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'

When I flipped the LH Jazz neck it took a few taps to get the nut out of its slot.
Turned it around and it went back in firmly, used a G clamp to squeeze is back down.

I like the finish on the Jazz neck, I'm hoping the 5 string is similar.

What's the quality and finish of that jazz neck like?
I'm jonesin after a P bass with a maple block inlay neck and thinking about it, one of these parted out could be a good cheap way of getting there.
Do these necks fit fender/Squier bodies?

Is the finish light enough that I could spray some vintage tint on?

Did you flip the jazz kinda a la Hendrix only in reverse ?

Just the neck. I had a right handed P body with a totally shot neck.
Buying the Deko was the cheapest way of getting a neck...

There's a photo in the cheap bass thread in the gear porn bit.

@landwomble, I'm not sure if that question is meant for me. I'll comment if you want me to, but people who have the JB1975 bass with the neck in a body and strings, pickups, and things attached will be able to give a much better answer. Similarly for the finish. It looks very light to me, but someone who actually has experience of refinishing a neck would be able to give a much better answer than I can. There is a touch of sharpness to the frets. Not at the end of the frets, but along the top edge of the chamfer (correct term) at the ends of the frets. Not hugely worrying, but it can be felt.

I found the holes in the neck were about 7mm out, along the length of the neck, compared to a fender neck.

As I had a cheap body I filled the holes in the body, and drilled some new ones.

The end of the neck is also slightly different to a Fender neck, so again a bit of fettle get needed to be done.

I really liked the neck on the left handed but the right handed jazz (a lower model) was much less playable. If I had had them at the same time I'd have swapped the neck and the pickups over and sold the lefty body with the righty neck and pups.

Actually cheaper Coldflows.

My black acoustic deko was 55 euro and that was before the price hike in Feburary.

Really? Oh. I thought it had gone up a couple of quid recently but I guess it also varies on the current exchange rate.

Right. For the first time in ages I'm up and on the computer at night time. (Drunken neighbours doing loud karaoke). Maybe I'll see a live deko for once.

Three acoustic basses still available.

Acoustic 5er is still up there...

I'm gutted I missed the fretless 4; I hadn't even considered such a weirdly wonderful thing might exist, and GASed hard when I saw the 'sold out' label... Did anyone on here snag it?

I have one I bought a long time ago.

My PJ 5 string turned up. Wow.

Why they call these dekos I have no idea. Two slight strips on the back where the paint is thicker. Had a 5 min tinker and got it playing. I'm impressed.

Heard this from a fella in Denmark and it might go someway to explain the dekos.

It seems Thomann don't check all orders, the volumes way too high, they check a sample load from each delivery and decide if it's a good
batch or not. With the no questions return policy it must be cheaper that way.

Congrats on the P/J Coldflows and Bartelby fingers crossed for you bud.

I'm just being totally impatient...

But tomorrow I'm in the office 7:30am- 6pm.
Being there, knowing the bass has arrived, will make the day REALLY drag...

And so should infrequently updating tracking information

EDIT: Oh, it just has been... "Received and Processed"
