Andytre Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 (edited) Loads of acoustic basses have gone up, including natural 4 string! Edit: they all say sold out and this appears to only be on the mobile site so it's anyone's guess if they actually exist! Edit 2: this one has become in stock apparently https://m.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_b_30_nt_fl_acoustic_ba_deko.htm?o=12&ref=mal_a_12&search=1437909148 Edited July 26, 2015 by Andytre Quote
Annoying Twit Posted July 26, 2015 Author Posted July 26, 2015 Fretless. My program hasn't picked it up yet. I haven't had time for a rewrite yet, but this shows that I should. Quote
Andytre Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Ahh didn't notice the fretless bit, I woke up to find the mobile site full of acoustics Quote
Annoying Twit Posted July 26, 2015 Author Posted July 26, 2015 (edited) Just popped up now. http://www.thomann.d...tic_ba_deko.htm Along with one of the lower spec classical guitars. If anyone actually wants to. EDIT: The acoustic 12 string deko I bought for a friend has arrived in the country. So maybe it might be delivered tomorrow. Edited July 27, 2015 by Annoying Twit Quote
yorks5stringer Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Looks like my 5 string prog-rock Bass will be delivered Tuesday, just read a review of a proper one and it was not complementary! Quote
Annoying Twit Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 Reviews of the progressive basses have been mixed, but I've seen a lot of positive ones. One package of my order is out for delivery now, but the other one seems to still be in Cologne Quote
ChristianJuschkat Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I finally know why my Acoustic Bass is a Deko... the Preamp sucks the battery out, even if it is not plugged in. So I have to remove the battery everytime I stop playing... doesn´t matter. 50€ Bass... Quote
Annoying Twit Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 (edited) Strange. Mine doesn't. I've read a review of a 'Progressive Bass' that does the same thing. It must be a wiring problem. The owner of the Progressive bass installed a micro-switch to turn the preamp on and off. T'would be tricky to do to an acoustic, however. EDIT: I have received a Facebook message saying that my friend who works for Parcelforce has a package for me! Edited July 28, 2015 by Annoying Twit Quote
ben4343 Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Received an 'order confirmed' for the acoustic fretless, which is pretty exciting! Anyone else snag anything? Twit; do you have fret markers on the side, or will I be flying totally blind? Quote
kodiakblair Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 (edited) ben4343 I hope I'm wrong but I think any side dots will be centre of the fret like normal, just can't see them using different jigs on basses this cheap. I'll be happy to be wrong on this though. Heard from a guy had battery trouble with the B-650 and another fella who thinks it's great and uses it for recording. Can't comment myself,I've the old Shine 6. Edited July 28, 2015 by kodiakblair Quote
CamdenRob Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 My latest Deko is out for delivery although I'm at work so it'll be the usual "trying to find out which non english speaking random neighbour I've never met has signed for it" when I get back tonight Quote

I allways recieve mine here because there's nobody at home but i'm lucky to have this possibility. Quote
Annoying Twit Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 (edited) I have received my first order with the deko 12 string. Now, this is an odd one. Fit and finish perfect. Action is IMHO excellent. Natural acoustic sound is fine. Easy to play, I think (I'm not used to 12 strings and had trouble finger style, but I think that's me, not the guitar.) Single 'D' stamp on the neck. Electronics work fine. Not the best sounding pickup, but it seems to work well with effects. (I had it going through a Zoom B1xon.) So, what is wrong with it? Well, it's a 12-string, and it has four D strings and no G strings! EDIT: I'm pretty sure, they look identical, and have the same tension tuned to D. Edited July 28, 2015 by Annoying Twit Quote

Needless to say I had to go out but left a message on the door asking for it to be delivered to a neighbour which they did. (I know this is not London). Bass is absolutely fine, some tiny scratches on the back like ones you'd do yourself, action spot on out the box, just needed to tune it up a tone. Some decent sounds too, wonder if the battery will last? This is going to be a fretless project, will take the nylon flats off my StarBass and use them on this once it's defretted. Also give me chance to fit the new Elixirs I was given (thanks Basschat) to the StarBass and then review them. Quote

Tidy cavity mind, wires all clipped/tied together and liberal use of graphite paint. Oh, it's got a nice scarf joint at the headstock and is made in China Edited July 28, 2015 by yorks5stringer Quote
