Coldflows Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Grabbed a pb shorty last night and was confirmed this morning. Looking forwards to taking it apart and messing about with it! Quote
pfretrock Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 All quiet on the Deko pages. Is this a sign of China's falling economy, or have they fired the guy who put dots on the 13th fret? Quote
elephantgrey Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 I just noticed that thomann are selling Harley Benton b-stock. They might have moved all the decos there? Quote

bartelby Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 It's near impossible to get any Dekos these days. They seem to update the website with them already sold out. Quote
pineweasel Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 I've only seen our old friends the resonator and Warwick mini bass for weeks now. Perhaps Thomann are just awaiting a new container load of Harley Bentons? Quote
BassBunny Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016
I just noticed that thomann are selling Harley Benton b-stock. They might have moved all the decos there?
They've always sold B-stock which are customer returns or ex-display and sold as perfect with a warranty. May be the odd scratch but tested and passed. No warranty or returns on Deko as they are sold as faulty. So can't see them being able to palm Dekos off as B-Stock. Quote

Interestingly one wasn't stamped so I'm not 100% sure it was even a deco. It did say Deco on the box though. Quote

Maude Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Ordered a fretted and fretless and I'll move on whichever one I don't want. Was just going to get a fretless but intonation on such a small scale is a pain higher up the neck so I thought screw it I'll try a fretted as well, although the intonation might be awful on that anyway. Just got to wait for that all important confirmation email. Quote
yorks5stringer Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 My fretted Deco Uke has one slight issue, the bottom D ( and only that note) buzzes. I've wound the truss rod both ways and it appears the A string nut slot is just a tad low. I could make a new nut with some dog bone, do the superglue and baking powder fill of the slot and then recut it, or wedge some curved plastic under the string in the nut......... Guess which?! Quote

Maude Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Had the confirmation, they're both on their way. I'm pretty much exclusively doublebass now so will probably just keep the fretless but was wondering what the intonation is like on the fretted higher up the board. I know what cheap acoustics can be like with no adjustment, especially with such a short scale. Quote
Rikki1984 Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 They mustve been selling a batch of these as I picked up a fretless one too! Quote
yorks5stringer Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Just done the baking powder and superglue fix twice, as the first time I took too much off with the file. Beauty of these is you can just pull the string to the side behind the E post, then unhook it and no longwinded string winding. Quote
Owen Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 For whoever buys a Uke bass next time, remember to buy a case for it as well Cheap and cheerful - http://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_gigbag2_classic_12_bk.htm?ref=search_prv_1_1 Or nicer - http://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_gigbag1_classic_1_2_bk_2.htm?ref=search_prv_3_1 Quote
yorks5stringer Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Yes, I went for the cheapy but for an extra £5 the padded one looks good. Quote
tazza1 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 I ordered on Saturday & had my confirmation this morning. Checked just after I ordered mine & they were out of stock but there are fretted ones available again at the moment - be quick!! Owen Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) Ukes arrived today. The fretless has the side dots (where there would be side dots) where the fret lines would go. What is that about? Edited May 24, 2016 by owen Quote
Myke Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016
Ukes arrived today. The fretless has the side dots (where there would be side dots) where the fret lines would go. What is that about?
I think, if I'm understanding you right, that's normal. Because there are no frets the side dots go in line with where they would be. Quote
Owen Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 There are fret lines on the side but a dot on fret 3/5/7 etc it is a bit disconcerting! More importantly, the fretted is fine on G and A, appreciably louder on D and sadly quieter on E. I presume it is time to take the bridge saddle off? Quote
